Family Portraits With 3-D Printing

This week on the Waves of Tech 239, Apple and Amazon are making headlines again.  Apple is staging for their October 16th announcement, while Amazon is planning an opening of the first brick-and-mortar store.  We have some cool news about the latest in family portraits, involving 3-D printing.  Finally, we discuss how technology influences our bedtime hours.  Thanks, as always, for tuning in and continue to ride…the waves of tech.

Apple announcement 16 Oct

Only one month after announcing the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, Apple is set to announce an updated line of products.  What can we expect from Apple?  There’s no doubt that a new iPad Air is on the agenda, a new iPad mini, and a new iMac with retina display.  If you’re expecting OS X Yosemite, the time is here.  The new operating system will bridge features from iOS and OS X, creating an updated user interface.  Is it in your plans to upgrade?

Amazon to take on Big Apple with brick-and-mortar retail store

It’s a weird thing to think, but it’s true.  Amazon, the digital retail giant, is opening a brick-and-mortar store in the heart of New York.  With only preliminary news about the store, we can expect day-of pickup for orders placed online, an opportunity to return unwanted or misordered items, and the chance to exchange products.  With Apple and Microsoft having a presence of The Big Apple, it seems to make sense for Amazon to open their doors.

New family pictures

Does your family have any plans to get together and have a family picture taken?  If so, check out the latest 21st century family picture concept – 3D Family Portraits.  We know, we know.  It sounds very bizarre but it makes total sense.  For a few hundred bucks, you can have a series of family members printing into a 5-inch figurine.  What a talking point and conversation starter!?!?

Accurate Signs Of The Times

Times are changing, and that’s a fact.  We live in an interesting cultural now with people running into signs and falling into subways while texting and walking.  Steve outlines some of the sad and depressing, or even relevant, signs of the times.  You will laugh at many of these signs and promos.  Have you found others around the web?  Share them with us!
